The Basics Insights is a great tool to help new parents. When our baby was close to turning one, we got a text that gave us the idea to use the language of “more” and “less” when playing with water cups in the bathtub. We learned that by incorporating those words into bath time, we are building math skills at such an early age.

The Basics is a community-level strategy, working within and across organizations to embed The Basics Principles five evidence-based practices for promoting early childhood development into routine family engagement efforts. In Utah, this work is strengthened through partnerships with Promise Partnership Utah and the Promise Baby & You program, which support families early on by promoting healthy development, strengthening parent-child relationships, and connecting caregivers to resources that reinforce The Basics in everyday interactions.
